Summary:
The role of Euro-American culture is different from that of Ancient Egypt. Most of the Egyptian religion can be traced back to peoples observations to the environment. Ancient Egyptians studied many different types of Gods. Such as, Amun-Re, Re-Harakhty, Ptah-Sokar, etc. Egyptians believed that the Gods resembled humans. They were born, died, and some reborn. Even though their behavior was like a humans behavior, they were still worshipped as immortals. Tombs and literary texts indicated that they believed in more than one God. Their deities included food, drink, clothing, and mostly rituals of purification to keep them away from evil. Many of these rituals had to do with the living king.
Thoughts/Emotions/Observations:
I think this article was informative and detailed in a confusing way but i did learn a few things. I did not know that Ancient Egyptians worshipped many Gods throughout their history. I did not think they would perform rituals of purification to keep them safe from evil forces.
How article ties to culture:
Religion is important to a culture. Religions show what people believe in, and who they worship. Religions is important because it shows a great influence in culture of different peoples' lives. It affects how a person acts, what people believe to be right and wrong and how people see the world. And therefore, that is why it is important in Egypt back then.
