Summary:
United States food and Costa Rican food are very similar with some differences. Breakfast in Costa Rica includes rice and beans, scrambled or fried eggs, cooked plantains, tortillas and/or toast, and orange juice or coffee. For Costa Rican meals, it consists of a traditional dish called casado: a mix of black beans and rice, fried plantains, Costa Rican cheese, salad, meat, most of the time beef, fish, or chicken. Other meals include black bean soup, heart of palm salad, and seafood. American snacks are everywhere for Costa Rican snacks. Other snacks are called Ceviche, and Chilera. Drinks in Costa Rica are fruit smoothies made with water/milk, Agua dulce, water with sweetened sugar cane, or guaro, a sugar cane liquor, used in a shot or a cocktail.
Thoughts/Emotions/Observations:
I think this was informative about what Costa Rica eats on a daily basis. I did not know that Costa Rican food is similar to American food. I think i would try it out just to try something new. I think this article would be helpful for anyone that is going on a trip to Costa Rica and is wondering on what Costa Rican food is like.
How this article ties to culture:
Food is an important aspect to what people eat in various countries. Different foods represent different people and ethnicities. Food is a part of any countries culture. Food can be served traditionally in dishes. Food in Costa Rica is important because it represents their culture.
